Maui and the sun                                                                                                                                                       It was dark. The sun had came down. Maui couldn't see or eat his food. That sun!

said Maui ,he goes too fast, too fast, far too fast.

Maui called his brothers they came to him in the dark.

“That sun goes too fast” said Maui. He gets up and races across the sky.

then he goes away.The nights are too long and the days are too short.

“Yeah”! said his brothers. We don't get time to catch our fish. “We don't get time to hunt

and we don't get time  to eat our food” said Maui. “YeaH” said his brothers.

“You must help me” said Maui.

“We’re going to catch that sun to make it go more slowly” said Maui.

Maui’s brothers laughed. “We can’t make the sun more slowly” they said.

“We can” said Maui .”No we can’t” said his brothers.

“We will make flax ropes and we’ll catch him” said Maui.

“It's too hard” said his brothers.

“ No it won't be” said Maui.

“It will be easy” said Maui.

So the next morning they hid behind some the rocks and waited and waited.

And then they saw him and they got their flax ropes and threw it at him. He couldn't move then Maui got his dagger and swung it at the sun.

Then the sun said “stop, stop it's so painful”said the sun.

Maui said l”et him go then”. They let him go and the sun went a lot slower.
